Never give up!

It’s difficult to stay motivated especially when it seems like you aren’t achieving any of your goals. Here’s a list of tools you can use to stay motivated.

  1. What you do everyday matters more than what you do once in a while.-Gretchen Rubin.

Perfection requires PRACTICE: A body builder does not go to the gym one day a week. He hits the gym every day. A figure skater will always be in the arena practicing, just to land that triple axel.  A good relationship is formed after days, weeks and months of phone calls, several dates and doing things together.  Overtime you will get to know a person then develop a better understand their  personality and character.  Making a routine is important in staying motivated because it allows us to improve ourselves. It takes 3 months for a routine to form a habit. That habit overtime will eventually allow us to improve our relationships, our character and achieve our personal goals.

  1. Patience is bitter, but it’s fruit is sweet.-Aristotle

Have HOPE,  Be PATIENT and Keep your eyes on the PRIZE: Patience is the secret ingredient in most success stories.  It’s what allows us to make a decision based on reason and not emotions.  Just because we can’t see improvement immediately doesn’t mean we should give up. A good friend of mine always tells me, “Don’t make permanent decision based on temporary circumstances.”  Think about a farmer that plants a seed. He doesn’t give up just because he doesn’t see any fruit the next day. Eventually the seed will grow and bear fruit. We have to remember this when we start any journey to success.

  1. I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won’t work. –Thomas A. Edison

GROWTH is a slow and painful PROCESS:  A diamond is formed from a lump of coal under extreme pressure. The situations in our lives are all opportunities to help us to become diamonds. We actually take pride in our problems, because we know that trouble produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Rom 5:3-4.  Through crisiswe learn to survive, forgive, love, give, help others, take care of our health, educate ourselves, become resourceful etc. Don’t hide from annoying people or difficult situations. Instead, show up every day and take up the challenge willingly. Stay motivated knowing that you will become better and stronger then you were before.

  1. Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.- Thomas A. Edison

PERSEVERANCE and CONSISTENCE. Perseverance and consistence. I’ve heard it said by many millionaires and entrepreneurs. Never give up! Never surrender! Sometimes it’s when we give up that we are on the verge of getting the answer or achieving the impossible. If you keep knocking someone will answer. If you keep looking you’ll eventually find something. If you keep asking eventually someone will answer you. A weed always grows because it’s stubborn. An alarm wakes you up because it’s annoying. Don’t be afraid to show up every week to your dream job or handing in resumes everyday to the same company.

  1. If you don’t build your dreams someone will hire you to help build theirs. – Tony Gaskins

Find the REASON behind what you’re doing. THINK about why you started: Are you trying to realize your dreams? Are you building a legacy? Are you making a better life for your family? Whatever the reason write it down. The days when you are not feeling motivated read it. It will inspire you to keep going. A restaurant, a bank, a TV show, a light bulb, freedom of speech all started off with a dream. The reason why these dreams exist is because those people fought and never gave up on what they believed in. With perseverance and consistence those dreams eventually become a reality. Watch this inspirational movie to remind you that you’re not working to achieve someone else’s dreams but your own.

  1. Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.- Oprah Winfrey

Surround yourself with PEOPLE who MOTIVE you. If you want to be successful, hang around successful people. If you want to be in business, surround yourself with people who started their own. Websites like www.meetup.com , www.toronto.eventful.com and www.biznetworknews.com are great ways to begin networking with people who have similar interests, dreams and goals as you do. The more people you meet and the more interactions you make, the more you will learn about your industry and what it takes to make it.  Personally, I was able to meet some incredible leaders, mentors and friends at these events. It changed my perspective on what is possible and allowed me to believe my dreams could become a reality. These events with fuel your tank and give you the motivation you need for the month. Try to go to as many times as possible.
